The 25 Club of Magee Womens Hospital of UPMC Launches New Website
Over the past 75+ years, The 25 Club of the Magee Womens Hospital of UPMC has consistently made contributions in support of the neonatal care of infants in Pittsburgh and around the world.
While the work of this organization has been significant and longstanding, awareness of the Club's efforts, activities, contributions, and outcomes, are largely unknown.
In early 2016 a steering committee was formed in The 25 Club to determine the feasibility and desire of the the Club to enter the digital spectrum with a website. The goal of the website would be to serve various purposes:
1. To communicate the history of the Club.
2. To educate new members about the Club.
3. To provide a reference point for public, private, and institutional donations to further the Club's mission.
4. To increase involvement of the community in Pittsburgh and the world by communicating the need for continued investment in neonatal research and development.
The 25 Club members also desired to recognize both patients and caregivers as part of the digital education effort.
“We have so many devoted caregivers, who have dedicated their lives to the research that The 25 Club has funded. We wanted to give the message a voice to communicate to a larger audience," said Debbie Barbarita, Club member. "When you look at the work of the nurses, doctors, hospital staff, and administrators, you really see the needs. We wanted to make sure these needs are communicated beyond The Club and give them a wider audience to increase support."
The 25 Club also wanted to recognize the lives of the patients and families that have been impacted by neonatal initiatives of the Club and Magee-Womens hospital. ‘Having a website today is an integral part of everyday life! You have greater success promoting a message. It also takes a lot in life to raise a child and even more for a NICU baby!! It was obvious from our first meeting that 50 Marketing had the ability to convey our message as well as promote our mission!' said Kathe Patrinos, Club member.
The 25 Club steering committee chose 50 Marketing to perform the website design and build. "When we learned about the project and began studying The 25 Club, the project took on a life of its own. It became a 'passion project' for the team. We really dug in and tried to do the best we could to communicate the amazing work they are doing," said Bill Woods, CMO at 50 Marketing.
"Learning about the research and then hearing these patient stories over the course of the project, it was really touching to learn what is being done by The 25 Club and NICU at Magee. We couldn't be happier with the outcome," said John McDowell, CIO at 50 Marketing.
